ABOUT: As many wrestlers and persons in the business know I was a rabid fan. Being from Chicago I was able to watch the likes of Dick the Brusier, The Crusher, Dusty Rhodes, Billy Robinson, Verne Gagne, the Chain Gang, Bobby Heenan and others.
My family moved to Tennessee when I was 13 and of course the first thing I found out about was where was the wrestling. I would go every Wednesday or Thursday to the Jackson Colisieum (now Oman Arena) to watch Tojo Yamamoto, Jackie Fargo, Tommy Gilbert, Eddie Marlin, Don and Al Green battle each other. I remember a young Jerry Lawler and I said "This guy will be a big star one day and not just in this area...I will see him more and more in the magazines...
I married a wrestling fan as well...out first date was to the Midsouth Colisieum for Monday night Wrestling...As "Wrestling" began to die and "sports entertainment" popped up..the interest began to wane.
However when the RWF put on its shows at the Daisy I went, then they began running at Denim and Diamonds..however at the time the crowds were thin...the announcer was an elderly gentleman who was kind and nice but didn't know "a wrist lock from a wrist watch" when a move was made I would yell it out...The wrestlers began to hear me and two of the owners Steel and Harley D asked me to come and ring announce..The rest you would say is history...
